How to effectively on-board airport workers and staff

News | , Airports | 0 Comments

Aviation is a highly innovative industry at the forefront of security technology, so you’d expect every process within it to be highly efficient, automated and streamlined – but that’s not the case when it comes to on-boarding airports’ own staff.

Regulations are in place to stipulate that airports vet all permanent and temporary staff for landside or airside employment, but these checks are actually paper-based and therefore a very manual process. Applications being completed with pen and paper leads to an inevitability of mistakes and the already time-consuming process is drawn out even longer.

Compliance is critical for pass offices, and auditing applications via an online system is one of the quickest and easiest ways to bring the industry up-to-date, providing highly traceable, auditable data, while streamlining the entire on-boarding process for airport staff and workers.

Such a system also makes for a more robust approach to security, enhancing the checks  on applications by allowing pass offices to prioritise vetting and issuance rather than cross-referencing individual identities.

Airports need to acknowledge the importance of making their employee on-boarding processes as effective, efficient and pain-free as that of the ongoing focus to improve passenger experience. Any airports failing to take action and incorporate automation will be back of the line when it comes to progress through innovation.
